Why? This question has tormented us for years or for as long as we remember. Why are happening all of these harmful things to us? By our standards, we are decent beings. We are trying hard to be good, and still, we have to struggle through life. Our limited minds cannot comprehend it, and we make room for frustration and many times anger.

Let’s begin with a story.
One man is having lunch at a restaurant and service is horrible, the food is spoiled, the waiter is rude, and he is waiting for a long time to be served. In the end, he is leaving a huge tip.
The next day he comes again. At this time the waiter remembers him, and his service is impressive. The waiter is hoping for more money as a tip today. Surprisingly there was no tip at all.
The waiter could not help but ask: “Why yesterday when the service was terrible the tip was great, and today when the service was excellent there was no tip at all?”
The answer was straight and meaningful; “Yesterday’s tip was for today and today’s tip is for yesterday.”

We may do good today, but Karma does not care for that. We still have to pay for what we did at another time or in another life perhaps. What would be the reason to do good and be kind to others? We will have no Karma to pay for the time or the lives to come, and then no wrong will happen to us. We will finally be allowed to move to a higher level of consciousness.
When we are talking about Karma, we may think of the East, of Indian or Tibetan people. However, Karma was and is present in all the cultures. It is just we did not have a specific name for it. We use to say “What goes around comes around” or in other cultures “What you do not like do not impose on others.” Well, this is Karma. We may not understand it because we do not remember, but the balance must always be restored.
Also, a reason that we attract people and events that we may not want in our lives could be because we feel guilty. We cannot get over it because we did not forgive ourselves. We have to look back and forgive all; ourselves and others. It is not an effortless process, but it is possible. One unknown may come from a previous life. Sometimes the energy of guilt in another life may tailgate in the current life, but we must stop punishing ourselves millions of times for one past mistake. That is the most tragic in humans. We keep punishing others and ourselves again and again for what we have done, and we do not forgive and not forget. That is becoming an evil motto without realizing that all the animosity we maintain it stays with us punishing our souls. We must forgive to move forward. We must learn this lesson. Otherwise, we will not be able to graduate.
